Explore – St.Stephen's House Oxford

The college has been based since 1980 in the extensive and historic buildings that once housed the Society of St John the Evangelist, the first religious order for men to be founded in the Church of England since the Reformation.

The original building on Marston Street once known as the Mission House and now called ‘Benson’ after the founder of the SSJE was built in 1865. The rest of the complex, including the outstanding Grade-One listed Church of St John the Evangelist and the accommodation now called ‘King’ after the founder of the college, was completed between 1895 and 1900. In recent years both parts of the building have been extensively modernised.

The college also has a substantial block of modern accommodation in flats and houses known as Moberly Close, and extensive parking provision.
