Studying at St Stephens House Oxford

Library

The St Stephen’s House library is housed in the original reading room of the monastic order of the Society of St John the Evangelist.

It is open 24/7 and contains approximately 15,000 items: books, journals and pamphlets. The older collection reflects the history of the college and its role in the Oxford Movement. The modern collection supports student teaching and learning in Theology and Education. Operating as a lending library, we aim to hold all core readings and set texts, and we encourage readers to recommend further acquisitions.

The House Library is part of SOLO (Search Oxford Libraries Online), an academic resources discovery tool which gives access to the catalogue of St Stephen’s House and the majority of library collections in the University of Oxford, as well as the electronic journals and databases to which the University subscribes.
